The age of chivalry has never quite gone out of style. Along with the perennially popular worlds of dinosaurs, pirates, and cowboys, the age of gallant knights in shining armors competing against dragons and other feudal foes has held a permanently fixed place in the imaginations of generations of kids. In this handy and clever set from LEGO, we meet Jayko, one of the younger members of the Knights Kingdom line, who is all done up in blues and silvers. Each member of the Knights Kingdom is assigned a totemic animal and Jaykos is the hawk, appearing as a sort of family crest on his blue and white shield. Jayko also holds a silver sword. This set features 46 pieces in all and although its easy to construct Jayko using the detailed illustrated instructions, since its LEGO the pieces can be used to build almost anything. My boys and their Knights September 11, 2005
I love these Lego Knights. The minute we get a new one my boys grab their dad and will sit and put it together. It easy enough that my 4 and 6 year old sons can do most of it themselves. After it is put together they grab their other knights and will sit and play for hours. These Lego Knights got them interested in reading about Knights, Kings, and Dragons. They are durable, easy to put together, and fun to play with. We look forward to collecting them all.

Jayko is the first knight I ever got. Hes awesome! you can display him on his canister and he has severak posability spots. You can put5 him in all these cool poses! You can have sword fights by the little wheel on his back. If you hit your opponent in the sheild as many times, it will fall off, and you win the game. buy this toy, garenteed fun!
Lego action figure surprisingly good January 21, 2005

I'm an AFOL (Adult Fan of Lego), so I didn't think the action figure would be the greatest thing ever. I got the Costco set of three Jayko, Santis, and Valdek for Christmas. I was surprised that the arm and leg pieces have plenty of studs on them for "real" Lego pieces to connect to. The joints are very nice, though, and provide many degrees of freedom and good strong clicking into position. These pieces can be put together several different ways. I built three knights by using more or fewer jointed segments in arms and legs, a tall knight, a medium knight, and a short knight. My one year old son likes playing with the short knight, called King Ian the Bold!
As action figures go, however, the helmets don't stay on very well, and neither do the heads. Some of the odd shaped armor falls off if you pick it up by grabbing these natural 'handles'. The shields fall off at the slightest blow from another figure's sword blow (a lever in the back makes one arm swing up and down).
All the knights are the exact same design. They each have different colors on their arm and leg ends, with a different face and helmet design. There are pieces that snap on as "armor". One uses standard lego roof pieces for most of this, the rest use somewhat more custom looking pieces that I cannot imagine much reuse in other models. Although some of these odd armor pieces just showed up in my latest Lego Cargo Train set as hoods, bumpers, wheel wells, etc for the trucks.
I see many applications for the joint pieces in my Mindstorm based robots. There, I'm always having trouble geting the mechanicals right for sturdy arbitrary angles, which is exactly what these joints do best.
