| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description All aboard for BRIO fun. This classic wooden train comes with battery-powered engine sounds, a glowing boiler and a chimney that "toot-toots." The faster your child moves the engine, the faster the engine sounds. Light and sound effects are powered by 3 "1.5V" button-cell batteries (included). Engine measures 3.5 inches long.

Brio Light and sound steam engine December 26, 2007 Nice little engine. Needs batteries for the sounds, but it's a push engine. The faster they push the brighter and faster the light comes on. A push button on top makes the toot toot sound. Not too loud. Works with all other Brio. Nice engine to get kids moving instead of letting the battery do the work for them. My son is loving his new train.
Brio Light an sound steam engine January 9, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I thought when I bought this that it was a moving engine by itself. It is not. There is a little lite that shines when you push it and the horn you push. It is cute but not what I thought it was. My grandson likes the battery operated ones that go on their own.
Great Train! February 19, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you are looking for a great value, get this engine. It is so cute - it lights up and makes a chugging sound when it's rolling along the track. We attach it to a battery-operated engine and it makes the sounds while the other engine provides the power. It's just hours of fun and adds that extra "something" to your train.
Noisy and fun little engine February 17, 2004 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
My 4-year-old son has just about every Thomas and Brio engine on the market, including the "electric" versions of Thomas and his friends. This one is different -- it does not move by itself as do the electric vehicles. Rather, it makes train and track noises as your child pushes it along the track. It's a fun addition to a younger child's set (one who is not ready for an electric engine that moves itself) -- as well as a great addition to an older child's set as it's new and different. Plus, it feels sturdy. I've only had it for a week, but it looks like it will last a while -- the self-propelled electric engines, while they're well-built, are no match in the long-term for the hijinks of a little boy.
