Product Description This ride-on pony is a toddler's perfect first horseback ride. As kids bounce up and down, the wheeled pony's legs start rolling, so kids can really go for a ride! Horse also comes with safety brakes, which are activated when the seat is held down continuously. Riders can simply press down on the left ear to hear life-like galloping sounds; or press on the right ear for whinnying and snorting sounds. The pony's tail even swings side to side as your child rides along. Handlebars located on the pony's head make steering easy, and a tight four-foot steering radius provides a controlled ride. Pony is perfect for active play both indoors and out. Requires three "AA" batteries, included. 32"L x 13"W x 32"H. Holds up to 150 lbs.

Durability: (what this means)
The Good: Toy is sturdy; provides outlet for physical activity.
The Bad: Toy is somewhat heavy; brake is not intuitive or quick to use.
In a Nutshell: Adorable, child-sized riding pony moves with your child's movements, offering plenty of physical, imaginative fun. | At a Glance Ages: 3 to 6 years Requires: 3 AA batteries (included) | | |
A brake lever tightens the pony's wheels. | Plush, Cute, and Sturdy The pony is much like an oversized stuffed toy, with its plush body, longhaired mane and tail, and its friendly eyes. Our child tester loved just petting it, let alone riding it. Beneath its plush fur is a hard, sturdy body that's heavy enough to support to even larger children. It wears a permanent saddle, and the metal, adjustable footrests -- which the toy's instructions call "stirrups" -- have rubber grips for extra security. They're attached to the horse's body with a heavy-duty, permanent metal bar. This toy is definitely built to last. Grip handles are located at the base of the pony's head, and its four hooves are fitted with hidden wheels. To make the pony move, the child sits in the saddle and places her feet on the footrests. By alternating a sitting position and standing up onto the footrests, she makes a bouncing action that causes the pony's legs to splay out and then come together, making the pony roll forward. Bouncing smoothly and continuously will make the pony continue to roll forward. The child can steer the pony using the handlebars. A brake lever is located at the right handlebar. It can be ratcheted up or down to loosen or completely tighten the pony's wheels. Imaginative Fun That Comes With a Workout! In these days of rising childhood obesity, we're happy to have found find an innovative toy that's powered by a child's sheer physical exertion, rather than by remote control or batteries. (Yes, this toy takes 3 AA batteries -- but only to create its sound effects. Squeeze its ears, and it will neigh and make trotting sounds.) The Giddyup 'N Go Pony offers plenty of fun physical challenges: the rider is challenged to master the bouncing action that makes the pony go, and she must maintain balance while driving and steering at the same time. The pony is built for both indoor and outdoor use, which expands its versatility and gives kids the opportunity to go outside and play. Some Wise Precautions But whether the pony and rider are inside or out, make sure an adult is always on hand. For safety reasons, the pony will not roll backwards, and because of its weight and height, only an adult can lift and move it away from "dead ends" or other obstacles. Smaller children will definitely need some help getting in and out of the saddle. And even though the horse has a break, it's not intuitive or quick to use -- so you'll want to keep a watchful eye to ensure that pony and rider don't stray off into steep or otherwise hazardous territory. If you keep these precautions in mind, your little adventurer can have plenty of fun imagining rustling up cattle, chasing down outlaws, or riding off into the sunset.

Wow, what a great toy for the horse lover January 8, 2009 My 6 yr old got this for her birthday, and this thing has been flying around the house every since. We also have Smores, which if fun, but not half as engaging and fun as this pony is. The horse actually moves! You ride it! Much better than just sitting on a horse that makes noise and moves it's head only. My 8 and 10 yr old are within weight limits, so they ride it as well. This thing moves fast on tile, and we have not had any tipping over issues. It is hard to completely turn around if you get in a corner - an adult or bigger child is needed to basically pick it up and turn it around. We love it, and it was worth every penny (no where near the non-Amazon prices here lately, yikes - you can get closer to $100).
Lita January 8, 2009 EXCELLENT TOY! I AM A GRANDMOTHER OF A FOUR YEAR OLD WHO LOVES PONIES. WHEN I SAW THIS PONY, I JUST HAD TO GET ONE. THE LOOK ON MY GRANDSON'S FACE CHRISTMAS MORNING WAS PRICELESS. HE ENJOYS RIDING HIS BULLSEYE. THE TOY DOES NOT DAMAGE HARDWOOD FLOORS AND WAS EASY TO ASSEMBLE.
Great exercise and horse lover pleaser January 6, 2009 My 2 1/2 year old daughter LOVED this gift. She likes being pulled around more than actually galloping, but I appreciate the work that she has to do to make it go forward when she does want to gallop. Such an awesome creation!!!
She loves it! January 5, 2009 I bought this for my almost two year old daughter even though she's younger than the recommended age because she's been in love with horses ever since the pony rides at the State Fair. I didn't know if she would actually be able to make it go on her own but I figured we could spend a year pushing her around if need be. However, she figured out almost immediately how to make it work, including the steering and the brake and now she rides around the house almost non-stop. The great thing about it is that because she is small and light, the motion is slow and easy to control so I don't have to worry about her going too fast. This thing is very sturdy and heavy which makes it impossible for her to turn around on her own when she runs out of floor space, but her five year old brother is more than happy to help out. He also enjoys riding it and is able to get it to go faster than she is, but like I said, I'm glad I don't have to worry about her riding it too fast right now. The only downside is that it doesn't have a great turning radius, so we're constantly having to get up and turn it around for her, but when she's older she'll be able to do it herself so I think it's totally worth it. This is a high quality toy that I think my kids will enjoy for years to come. I definitely WON'T take it outside because I don't want it to get ruined. Thankfully, we have wood floors so we have plenty of good surface to keep the kids occupied. If your little girl or boy likes ponies, you can't go wrong with this toy!
giddyup n' go pony December 30, 2008 I purchased Giddyup N Go Pony for my grandchildren for Christmas. They just love it. My 18 month granddaughter is not sure of it yet, but my 5 year old grandson loves it. Easy to assembly, very safe and sturdy.
